Hi y'all,

Just how good or neccessary are HDMI cables ta have ferrite beads built in?

I want to run HDMI from a media player to a TV and wondered if there would be so much EMI or RF interference that cables with the beads are required?

Such devices seem to be built into many leads these days.

Hi, I have not seen ferrite beads on HDMI cables, doubt they would be needed, they are sheilded cables, unlike the common beads on lots of gears power leads which is to remove crap that spreys out of their switch mode supplies from breaking the EMI rules.

I've never run an Hdmi cable with a Ferrite choke, I've used Hdmi cables for av and networking, not needed.

If there's enough interference in your system that you need chokes on your HDMI cables, especially if they're only the usual 1-2m cables, then you've got bigger problems.

Remember, it's digital, you either get a signal, or you don't unless your gear is prone to "sparkling".

The HDMI cable supplied with old OPPO DVD players had ferrite chokes on both ends.

At teh time it was one of the best no-name-in-the-box cables.
