Had a look at the new Stuff ‘IPTV’ (I use that in the loosest sense of the word) channel last night on my Sony internet TV.

Video quality: Excellent. High def, streamed virtually instantly, no jitter or other kinds of annoyances

Content quality:  rubbish. Just a few news clips.  Only good part was that there were no ads, but then I wouldn’t expect ads anyway.

On the plus side, the other channels on there are getting bigger and bigger.  There is now hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours of content available. Still mostly rubbish of course, but thereis the occaisional little bit of gold amongst all that junk- you just have to spend ages trying to find it.

Bring on the iSky app please!!!

I was watching the Fairfax/Stuff channel last night on a 2010 Sony Blu-ray player. There was a 15 second unskippable advert (not unreasonable I think) before one of the video clips I watched. The quality was good.

Maybe the ads only appear at the start of some clips.  None of the ones I watched had ads.  15 seconds is probably reasonable for a 10 minute or longer clip, but for a 1-2 minute one I think it is too much.

It's a Video On Demand channel (i.e. a list of videos that can be played) that's been added to the Sony's Internet Video line-up. This is a feature on some of Sony's TV's, Blu-Ray players and Home Theatre Systems.
