MediaPortal has moved to its next iteration and released an Alpha version of MediaPortal 2.

I have 1.2.2.0 running reasonably well and am wondering whether to dive back into testing again by installing MP2.
Has anyone been brave enough to try it yet?
Can I run a MP2 client off a MP1.2 TVServer?
Can I install it beside the MP1.2 Client on one of my PCs?

Very unlikely it will with a 1.2 back end..  I'd steer clear of it for now unless you want to test it.  Definately not for every day use.  Its been years in the making,  1.2 is stable.  :)

I have tried it and its very interesting.
You can install it side by side with MP 1.2.2 and I didn't have any issues when I had both versions on my HTPC (although its uninstalled now).

No TV Server component yet, but you can attach to your existing 1.2.2 server and use that.
Be aware, there is no native TV component currently included in the default client install(and nearly everything in 2 Alpha is a component). You have to download tv as a plugin:

It has some great features (Picture in picture) that are really standout. Still, it is an alpha so lots more work to do.
