Can pick up a pair of parallel imported floor standers for $199 new but not sure if I should get some older second hand ones of a better known brand instead.

What do you guys think or do you know anything about these speakers? I'm not going to get a chance to hear them unfortunately.

Specs are:

-Acclaim speakers rrp $899
-2.5 way 120w per speaker
-87DB
-30-20khz
-Brand new in boxes
-These are designed in conunction with and brought in by B&W NZ
-So these guys have designed a speaker that punches well above its weight.
-Fantastic sound
-Will out perform speakers 3x the price
-Fully nz warranty

They're rubbish unfortunately.
I'd rate them at the same level as Wharfedale Crystal's...
And why, oh why buy a bit of audio kit you haven't had a chance to audition?
With speakers, sound is everything. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING.

Yeah I kinda figured that from the price but wasn't sure if they were worth gettign or not. It's just for the bedroom and I don't watch tv in there much. I think i'm going to get some Polk Audio RT12s second hand instead :)

There are plenty of Chinese speakers coming in that look the business but are using the worst possible junk in them.

Friend had some that sounded worse than my 1980's PA speakers with bust piezo tweeters in them. And they are aweful
