I picked one of these up today, and thought the price seemed quite low, so thought I'd share it.  It's online only offer incl free postage.

Once you've got it up and running, how about a review?

If only you could use it with quickflix.... :p

I'd be keen on a review as well.  Telling the brother in law to get one of these.

You can probably use netflix and hulu if you use some kind of vpn/dns redirection or spoofing service.

btw - I would of bought an appletv2, as it can run XBMC, however appletv2 can't stream movies via an external usb HDD, and I wanted that feature.

It's now listed as

WDTV Live Streaming Media Player WDBGXT0000NBK - $188

and

WDTV Live Streaming Media Player - Online Exclusive - $188 (This was listed @ $148 earlier today)

...

Online exlcusive being the same model + price, so not sure what is going on!

Subject should be amended I think.

It's a great unit with an interesting community and custom firmwares. I changed to a AC RYAN Box and wish I hadn't though both had their strengths and weaknesses.

this is just a backup to tide me over as my htpc died (i think the mobo or cpu died, so i'm gonna rebuild it in a nicer case, with either support for lots of HDD or maybe a thin ssd silent client + server configuration).

I had the older version of these, and fast forwarding and rewinding jumped all over the place in the video file, so I returned it. Instead got a tivo for a few dollars more, and more than happy with that. Granted they are different types of devices. I think an apple tv is better value too.

I have one of these & I love it. I wouldn't recommend using it as a NAS because it's pretty slow though for playing videos on your tv (via usb or network) it's awesome - plays 1080p flawlessly & I can control it with my iphone.

With all of the negative feedback regarding DSE's online store, and given that they can't even get the pricing correct, I think its time they looked for new staff to run their online operation!

Damm, missed it. I have one these streaming 720p and 1080p contents off my media centre via wireless, even support bluray ISOs. Works flawlessly and the interface is user friendly and responsive.
