I'm wondering if things have been provisioned to other than GE1 (LAN1) - that 100/100 profile can crop up I think if a second port is used on a Chorus ONT.

ONTs are something of a mystery to me (why does it have two wires going in, besides the optical cable -- no don't answer that). Now that you say it, I can imagine/believe that different LAN ports might/can have different profiles.

I'm rather impressed at the quantity and quality of the responses I'm getting here. I didn't mean to get folk in to full 'fix the problem mode'.

What a friendly place.

And so here I am. I've kinda known of Geek Zone for a while (okay, that's probably 15 years or more), but I've never really looked into it. And now I realise it is full of folk just like me.

Does one have to be a geek to be here (rhetorical question, no answers required). I'd class myself has having some geeky tendencies (as many of my colleagues would agree with that statement).

So, I expect I'll be able to help a little with questions, and hopefully, my questions will be interesting in their own right.

Now back to trying to figure out why I'm only getting 100Mbs on my 1Gb fiber connection (no support required ... I think my ISP is on the case, and I'm betting its provisioned incorrectly).

Okay, I'll say more in case anyone is interested.

Speedtest.net gives me a download speed of 94Mbs. Connecting a PC directly to the ONT and running iperf3 tops out at 94Mbs. Looking at one of the Chorus websites, it says I'm set up for 100Mb but could upgrade to 1G connection (and I'm paying for top-o-the-line 900/500 or close to it).

Time will tell if it was the provisioning.

Curiosity helps......Geekdom comes later if you're not already there. :-)

Welcome.

Assuming you haven't gone for a fourth ISP this week, @IPv6pipe may be able to look as well.

::big smile::

I’m happy with my current ISP. I know their wheels are working away on this.

All said, the Chorus page saying my address is ‘set’ to 100Mbs, and that I could be getting 1Gbs is my main steer that the provisioning isn’t quite right.

But as I say, I expect the ISP will sort it.

As it is, I am getting 100Mbs uploads since moving to the, and that is a big improvement for my off site backups (I used to be on a 100/50) plan with Spark.

weird.

most of chorus's profiles are over-provisioned so you get 100mbit not 94 on PPPoE, seems not in your case.

Are you possibly getting 94/102 on speedtests? (upload faster than download)

No. My upload speed is slower than my download. I recall it’s closer to 87 Mbs

There we go, sounds like provisioning hadn't caught up yet.
