Welcome to the Far North!

We live near Russell and go to Kerikeri often for shopping.  Both are really nice places, but for ease of transportation, Kerikeri is better.  We use the Fullers vehicle ferry whenever we go to Kerikeri, on average once or twice per month, but if you were doing this every day, the costs would add up.

So far as employment prospects go: Cowley's Hire Centre has a depot near Kerikeri so you may be able to find work there.  If you are into farming or horticulture, there are plenty of job opportunities, but otherwise it's pretty limited, so I hope you have some contacts or someone in your wife's family who can help with this.  Otherwise, you could end up sitting on the dole for a prolonged period.
