Hi, new member from Tauranga here, my interests are; fixing old european cars like volvos & saab's, surfing, business, apple computers. I have had great fun on a couple of car repair forums, doing some major engine repairs while being coached from the US online.

I am a QS by trade, currently working in the area of cost management ;(

I have read a few posts on here while searching for the answers to various minor tech problems. I am in the process of updating our home PC to IMAC and have also bought one for my retired parents so trying to get them off the TV and online........

I have a question about setting up hotmail on the imac mail program, it works fine on my imac but the parents are on a vodem stick and for some reason it will not send/receive saying the server settings are incorrect. Have checked and recreated the pop3 account about 3 times but still no go.............

older PPC imac running osx 10.5.1

Welcome to Geekzone!

You might want to post the question about the mail in the specific subforum. I'd check that your program is using secure smtp and secure pop to send/receive though.

Only on certain forums (Geekzone, Offers/Wanted). Not in the tech forums.

Welcome to the mad house

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.

Hi and welcome, and keep asking questions - these guys are great!

<- don't ask me where I am - I haven't a clue: its a tech thing ;)
Housewife computerer: not particularly great at either.
And don't take me too seriously.
