Evening all, my name is Brendan Lester.

Day time job is a technical consultant/other stuff for an Irish company in the NZ Government sector. Night time job for the last while is where my apology now comes in. I had hoped to include the following in the Startups forum, but can’t seem to do that at the moment. Anyway, here goes:

Thanks for the invite to show of our start up. I would like to introduce you to http://www.MapofNeeds.com

We launched a few weeks back with the idea being if you need something done in a certain place in the world but don’t know anyone there or someone that can do it, list it here and people will come to you. This differs in several ways from *lance sites by specifying where you need something done, that something can be anything, and the fee structure is extremely simple and low. We’ve integrated with Google Maps to make it easy to use and look cool too :) Of course, the service can absolutely be used for local listings as well.

Having the development done was the easy, though lengthy, bit – now the real work begins. We’ve had a great press release put together and delivered around the world a few days ago and we’re looking forward to the results of that. In the meantime, I’m doing a bit of leg work to drum up some local support. We’re looking for both people that need something done and people that can do things and would likely earn a few coin as a result. Registering and listing your country sends local listings to your inbox or you can turn this bit off and just visit often.

I’m absolutely open to and appreciate all feedback, ideas and advice. If there’s anything else I can add or help with, just let me know.

…I live on the Kapiti Coast and enjoy the local fishing, mountain biking tracks and quieter pace of life an hour out of Wellington when the trains work and get me home.
