Hello,

My name is Hyram and I am a closet geek. My first experience with computers was with a mainframe at CalTech using a dailup modem that really was dailup! You picked up the phone, dailed the number waited for the scream and then placed the handset onto the modem. The keyboard and "screen was a teletype - went through lots of paper just logging on. From there on to Fortran, punch cards and job stacks, throwing switches to programme the boot loader on some old thing, 5.25" floppies, Vax-VMS and then finally a Macintosh. Done some programming and sold my own scientific commercial software. Had e-mail since people didn't know what it was and was telling people about Google before it was a fortune maker. Have programmed Excel macros to do multi-dimensional matrix algebra. Seen most of it, though maybe not in depth.

Now I am a die hard Apple and Mac fanatic. Have my reasons I won't bore you with but suffice to say I have used Windows in most incarnations and would rather not go there. I have used Macs since the first 128K machines and probably have every System version from then in my archives. I use my machines hard - graphics, video editing, audio recording and editing (have recorded, mixed and mastered about 6 releases), etc.

I know a bit but not a byte and look forward to sharing info and views with others here to learn more.

Thanks for reading,

Dr Twang

Greetings and welcome

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.
