I have worked in the telco business since last century and some days it feels like I have worked in IT since the century before that.
Previously employed at FX Networks, Ultrafast Fibre Ltd, Velocity Networks Ltd, Wired Country and Go Live Ltd.
I know some stuff about layer 1 and layer 2, but my knowledge diminishes as we travel up the OSI layers.
You will notice I tread carefully when posting in these forums. I will tend to only state facts that are to be found in the public domain and it goes without saying (but I'm saying it anyway) that my opinions (TWEIE) are mine and not someone else's.
I have rejoined the world of self-employment and most of my work is sourcing services for small, mid sized ISPs. If you're an ISP looking for transit, layer 2, billing systems, end-user driven filtering or some magic trick you can't find then please get in touch.
I'm also a trustee on two charitable trusts, one operates The Meteor Theatre, the other facilitates internet access for parts of our community who don't have it (www.wawt.org.nz)
