Morning all

Have already posted a few threads but still relatively new so thought I should say a proper hello.

Im based in Central Otago, have been a mild nerd for a while, full back catalogues of star trek and star wars dvd and big bang theory to testify. I used to be an avid hifi fan and strove to improve my sound system from its humble beginnings as a refined food processor (kenwood) to a NAD based system with B&W series 2's and lost countless hours of my life comparing one set of speaker cables to another....  In the mid 1990's I started trying to figure out how I could duplex a stereo signal in to a surround sound system cos the explosions in films were awesome and when I had multiple speakers around the room..the wife to be decided this was not a conducive environment to base a marriage on.. I begged to differ and convinced her to invest in some new arcam kit and new speakers which were "much more pretty".

Since then I have consistently looked to build on my home Av kit and jumped on board with the latest developments and still have my Sony MD player and laser disc ! and occasionally get to keep the kids pocket money for an upgrade.. currently have a Marantz HT with Pioneer BDP 450 3D with full B&W speaker set up for 5.1.

Now i am a little older, more refined and somewhat more sensible I decided to build my own house and about 2 days before the gib was due to be finished realised that I had not included my dream home theatre in the design and the kind contributors of geekzone came to my aid and assisted me in installing a 92" drop screen and projector system inside 1 week, all for under $2k. (painting is due for completion in a fortnight so will post photos once completed).

I enjoy music and have an eclectic back catalogue from 70-80's pop to current day thrash and like to watch movies, ok yes, generally sci fi and alike..

I was addicted to WOW for several years, as well as its predecessors such as diablo but managed to kick the habit when I realised the outside world was really interesting but still keep in touch with my old buddies and laugh at how much our lives we lost to a game.. now I play clash of clans occasionally when im bored.

Im a keen photographer and generally friendly guy.

oh and I don't bite. that's a real positive.

:)

Gday

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup. Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Greetings!

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.
