Hello, everyone!

My name's Corey, and I'm a game designer and community manager from sunny Encino, California. I used to work at Sony Online Entertainment on Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and I'm currently working for a mobile start up company (nearing our first game's release). One of my friends from my Everquest days from NZ recommended I drop by and say hello, so here I am :)

I'm mostly a gaming geek - table top rpg's, MMO's, Magic: the Gathering (been playing since 3rd edition), and a variety of console and pc games. I'm also a bit of a beer geek; I really love a good barrel aged stout, but I'll try just about anything once ;)

Thanks for reading and I look forward to getting to know you all a bit better!

Add Pizza and you have a LAN Party! That takes me back. We used the have work LAN Parties each time a batch of new Dell comptuers arrived... I think we were bedding them in? innocent

Indeed! I don't know if it's the same where you are, but here in the States LAN get togethers seem to have all but died from my experience - unless you're at a convention or something where a game company is hosting an upcoming title or tournament of some sort. It's really sad - I miss the days of more social gaming.

Also, thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! :)

Welcome!

I had such high hopes for Vanguard but it just didn't really come together, and I ended up just staying addicted to EQ until I finally weened myself off the crack a few years later :-) Smedley and Aradune stole a decade of my life lol :-P

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. Yeah, LAN parties have died a death over here, theres still the occasional "large" one that pops up, but nothing like they were back in early 2000's etc. Everyone is happy to stay home and play over the net, and makes sense now that most people can get ping times under 100ms making games playable.

I still organize one at home every so often for my mates and I to get together, usually copious amounts of alcohol and junk food involved and we'll get stuck into one or two games (Unturned was a fun game at last LAN).

Original Starcraft still makes an appearance........... ;)

One of the first things I did when I started working at SoE was look up exactly how many hours I'd logged in their products. I won't repeat it here, but it wasn't a small amount of time invested - I simultaneously curse and thank Smed and McQuaid for those hours spent in the same breath :)
