Hi Folks - brand new to Geekzone I set this up to share my experience of transitioning from Vodafone to My Republic. This might be useful for those planning their own change of ISP.
So yesterday thought I'd look for superfast fibre in the Whangarei area; Ive had great service from VF with 100/20. Part of my day job is to deliver fibre upgrades to home and small businesses and generally I use Vodafone - always the usual teething problems but when it's stable, its usually very stable and reliable.
So I was asked by a customer if I could find a faster service and decided to give My Republic a try and what follows will be my experience as I transition from Vodafone today to My Republic over the next.. period.
Day 1: 10-Aug-2017
Online chat about various services. Once I'd indicated a level of interest they asked if I'd like someone to call. I agreed and gave my name and number. 10 Seconds later my phone is ringing
I opted for Unlimited 900/500 at (special deal, today only) $49.99/month for the first 6 months and then $99.98 for the next 18 months. Over 24 months that works out a tad less than I'm paying VF for 100/20.
After a half hour discussion, swapping details and the like I was provisonaly signed up with the caveat that I'd give payment details on my confirmation the next day that I will proceed.
In fact later after a few checks and email questions I confirmed that I would proceed.
They've confirmed that there will be no outage, service will be transitioned in around a week, no speed throttling - all sounds fab!
Day 2: 11-Aug-2017
09:15 - call from MR asking for payment details which I gave. The ball is rolling
I look forwardf to blistering hot fibre speeds in the next week or so.. will keep you posted!
cheers Mal
