Hi,
I'm an old geek - mainframes and modems that you stuck an old landline telephone handpiece into! Programming the boot load on a PDP by throwing a sequence of switches! But, I'm still here and asking questions.
Here's my question:
Besides ASB and ANZ (the two most technology progressive mainstream banks) do any other banks have "pay to mobile" services or something similar? What I want is for people to be able to pay me small amounts, like throwing money in a cup or tipping say, with the least amount of obstruction. ANZ and ASB mobile banking apps can pay to a mobile number or email - easy! Open the app, select the appropriate payment type, put in an amount and a mobile nukber or email address and done! I get a text or email with a link to claim the payment. Westpac (total crap bank) and BNZ (hardly better) have no such feature that I can find on their websites. If it's a feature in their banking apps they're not telling anyone!
There is a Digital Tip Jar website but they want about 10% (WAY too much) and both the tipper and the tippee have to have accounts - not so much an obstruction for the tippee but more sign-up, ident, verification, etc. processes for the tipper which a hurdle many people will not bother to jump.
Any other ideas? Cryptocurrencies? ??
Thanks geeks!
Harry B
