Hello! I'm Humphrey. Not really, but you can call me anything you like. "Hey you!" was popular in high school.
Today I received my four year badge. It was given a day early according to my profile, but I'm not going to niggle as there are plenty of other posts where my comments will be met with varying levels of appreciation. I don't know when I first started reading the Geekzone forums, but it was a long time before signing up.
I have studied or worked in IT for the past 21 years, working primarily on the development of Internet-related products (higher up the OSI model - implementing protocols and ensuring RFC compliance).
C is my language of choice, I run Windows on the desktop (for now), FreeBSD on my servers, and I have a nice rack (size 42U).
I do some volunteer work, and I occasionally get to "blow stuff up", being a certified pyrotechnician. Unsurprisingly, my favourite day of the year is November 5th. Getting together with the neighbours and wasting cash on consumer fireworks is still fun, even when you've fired 16" shells, or blown up a desk and computer :)
I appreciate the help offered on Geekzone, and will continue to help out where I can. I guess that means you're stuck with me.
