Introductions about oneself!? Feels like a bit of a job interview question!

In any event, here goes...

I'm currently based in London but will shortly be heading home back to Wellington, and making a list of the things I will miss (Amazon shipping anything overnight, free broadband, half a dozen episodes of the Simpsons and South Park on every night, affordable iPhone plans) and a bigger list of the things I won't (tube, people, commuting, people, people, it goes on... people).

I stumbled across this site again while researching what I should bring back with me, and will be prevailing upon your good natures first to decide what to bring and then later for help setting it up.

Interests - well, tech, obviously, but also history and I guess throw current event and politics in the mix too. Travel too, but a bit over that now (hence coming home). I pretty much like mucking around with anything electronic or mechanical, and have a pretty good record for managing to fix the stuff I break.

Have recently shifted from the MS empire and am starting to play with Macs and Linux, all of which is pretty interesting, though a bit wierd in some senses - why does a Mac need a control key *and* a command key!? And enter should not be rename! But I digress...

Cheers, mdf

Great to have you here.  I'm sure you'll be able to offer some interesting viewpoints on a number of subjects based on your overseas experiences.
