Though I'm more an ex-geek than a current one. I've recently stopped working in the IT sector after 20 years working in the UNIX world - mostly Solaris - in Wellington. Packed my family and household and moved north to Whangarei for a full change - career, lifestyle, the works. And I haven't regretted it one little bit.

Working in the IT world was good and I learnt lots over the years and made some good friends but the time comes when you've got to get out and try something different.

I figured joining this site would be a good idea as I don't have the easy access to technical Q & A that I had in Wellington. Though I know that help is only an email away sometimes its good to tap into the experience of a wider audience. And who knows, I may be able to dredge up some knowledge from my experiences too.

Seeing as I'm now a computer user as opposed to a support specialist I tend to use my computers for work and do other things for leisure such as cycling especially MTB'ing and follow my passion for motorsport.

See you on the forums.

Mike

Hi Mike and welcome to Geekzone.

I've no doubt you'll be able to put your knowledge to good use here.  Tony Hughes (Moderator) will be happy to know another motorsports fan is here...
