Kia ora koutou!! ( Translated from Maori to English means "Hi Everyone!")

I am a 37 y.o. father of 2 (soon to be 3) boys living in Auckland, New Zealand.  I'm currently working as the National Account Manager for a technology related company, and have been in this role for nearly 6 and a half years.

A knee injury earlier in 2008 spelled an end to my sporting career, but I am still an avid spectator.  My sporting prowess has now given way to that of my 3 y.o. son, who has finished his first season of club rugby and is now trying his hand at athletics.  To my surprise, he is a very handy sprinter, dominating his age group at club level.

I've always had a love for technology, which came to view after receiving my first computer at age 12 (Commodore VIC-20).  I am by no means, a computer 'prodigy', but what I lack in knowledge I more than compensate for in enthusiasm.

I still love PC & Console gaming, however commitments (my family) don't offer me the spare time that I'd previously devoted to this past time.

I'm looking forward to contributing to Geekzone in any small way that I can.

Thanks anthonybs & Mauricio for your warm welcomes.  I'm feeling a little weary after a business trip & long late night drive (8 hours).

Look forward to contributing soon.

Cheers

Hey there boogerooney - great intro.  Welcome to the Geekzone forums, look forward to hearing more from you.

Have you considered taking up cycling? - it's a great sport for those who've suffered knee injuries because, as long as keep your gearing at a point where you can spin well, there's no major pressure on the knee joint.  Of course should you reach a point where your spin rate starts to drop and the knee pressure increases, you can stand in the pedals to ease the pressure.

Mind you, having kids means they, naturally, come first so time might be a problem... Wink

Regards
Steve

Hi Geekzone friends!!

Really great to receive such a warm welcome from you all.

Thanks for the great advice Steve.  I have an ergometer which is helping me to peg back some of the weight I've put on since March, but I'd like to mix it up a bit.  I'm thinking of investing in a stationary bike to get some variety.  I also like to have a digital read-out in front of me as I'm the type of person who likes to have some numbers in front of me to quantify my efforts.

Looking forward to contributing.  Thanks again for your kind welcome & advice.
