I thought since I've been here a few weeks I should formally introduce myself.

My name is Nick, and I'm a graphic designer for APN News & Media (ChCh) working in the creative department for a bunch of newspapers and magazines such as The Star and its' associated community and rural papers, Lifestyles, and a bunch of random niche publications.

I freelance on the side, and prefer the Corel Graphics Suite over the Adobe Suite, though I do use Photoshop. My freelancing revolves mostly around music and promotion, though I do a bit of commercial advertising design as well.

I'm an avid gamer, with a leaning towards first-person shooters and retro games (Commodore 64, Arcade/Neo Geo, and the 90's Nintento & Sega consoles).

My first taste of computers was a Commodore 64, but didn't end up as a PC user until I started learning graphic design in the 90's.
I'm by no means a l33t g33k, just a mid-range user who likes to keep his machine clean and tidy.

My main hobby is music. I play guitar and sing, and also have some experience with drumming.
My last band was "Tainted", arguably NZ's biggest metal band right now.
Musical taste lies on the heavier and darker side of the spectrum, but I have a love for most styles and you'll find Simon and Garfunkel CD's sitting quite happily between Slayer and Sepultura CD's!

Sometimes I don't mean to come across as harsh and cynical, but I am so that's how it comes out Sealed
Hahaha, nah, in all seriousness, it's sometimes just worth taking what I say with a grain of salt.

zocster: welcome to geekzone, what sorta guitar you like/got? lead guitar role?

Favourite guitar... hmm, that's a tough one, but my all-time favourite look & shape is a tie between the Gibson SG and the Gibson Les Paul.

Two main guitars I currently use
Down-tuning: ESP LTD 400
Standard tuning: Jackson JJ2 (Scott Ian model)

And also have a "Charvette" that I've had since I was a teenager, which was amazing to play years ago, but is now in a state of dis-repair, which I will have to address at some point.

I'm mostly a rhythm guitarist but dabble in lead too to varying degrees of success. My specialty is being a really solid rhythm player and frontman/vocalist.

Will post some piccies later.

Good intro and welcome to Geekzone.  Been reading (and chuckling at) a few of your posts.  Crusty old bass player myself, although well out of practice now...

Cheers mate.
Yeah I got real out-of-practice for a while. I started really missing it so I bought a decent guitar and joined a band for the first time in many years. Went really well until it became about "making it" more than it did making music I felt creatively stimulated by, so instead of hold them back by being negative and difficult I cut the strings and let them go for it. Back to playing at home for myself.
A year and a half later and now they're very likely going to be opening for Iron Maiden. Surprised  Great timing, Nick... NOT!
