828 pages of users.

Found this forum when researching TV tuner cards, thought I'd join and ask some people with more experience about such things.

About me:

I'm 26, married, no kids, have a diploma in software engineering that I've never used in my working life. I would like to one day turn it into a degree. I currently work as an alarm technician (sort of).

Thats about it...

Thanks.

Is there any way to view this forum without the horrible banner and sidebar ads?

Ok, I will be nice because you are new here - but obviously you don't know how the Internet works.

You see there's nothing free on the Internet. I pay more than $2000 a month just to host and run Geekzone, not counting my full time work on the site. And you want it for free.

Well I tell you some news: the "horrible banner and sidebar ads" are here to help pay these expenses. Without them this site - and probably 80% of the Internet - wouldn't exist.

Welcome again to Geekzone - and to the Internet.

I'm guessing that you have had this discussion before!

I'm a member of pressf1.co.nz, and some users on there have with the use of ad blocking software and stylish scripts effectivley blocked the ad's. That is all I was asking, is there a way to do this?

If not, or if you don't want that type of activity discussed, then fair enough.

Sorry for any misconceptions that comment may have caused.

If you want to do it, sure you do it. You can search around and you will find how to.

But is it something that you consider right? If it was your job on the line, and your business, and your work would you be happy?

Does it really matter? Do the ads slow down your browser that much? Is your Internet connection really that slow?

Oh sure, I understand how the site generates money from having the ads, and no, they aren't that much of an inconvenience.
