This is my first attempt on a website which very name screams at me to keep away from!!

Really I was born too soon for such things, but have been using [I stress using as one uses a tool] for over thirty years but also from the front of the screen never wanting to get behind the screen, in the way a car driver is not an automotive engineer.

However my query is a television and recording problem.

Currently I have an old tv set with a freeview box [no Sky], and my dvd recorder records only analogue.
I watch live via Freeview [? digital or is it high definition] and record via my analogue recorder. I can record whilst watching and also using the ram on my dvd recorder can set the channel and "freeze" the picture, switch over to freeview watch live, and then switch back to dvd analogue and watch the other programme, in this instance when the recorder is turned off the programme is wiped.

I am thinking of buying a 32 inch HD READY tv set but want to know if I can still operate my dvd recorder in the same way as I do at present as recording is an integeral part of my tv viewing. In other words is a HD Ready tv still receiving analogue signals?

As an adjunct to my query does this apply to full HD sets, I think not.

Have seen so many conflicting answers to this and am looking for a definitive answer.

So if anyone can help I would welcome it.

Thank you

Gerrylpr

Assuming that your Freeview box stays hooked up to your DVD recorder in exactly the same way the TV makes no difference. You will probably just want a splitter so the Freeview box and TV can both be tuned in at the sane time.
