Hi all,

Chris here, and just popped my head in here to do more regular 'research' (speak, watch the gossip) on high speed internet connections offered in the market. That's been broguht on by the crappy service i just had the last couple of weeks. Anywy, I'm an Apple mac dude from way back and may not be of much use to too many of you guys here, but then, you never know...

See you around
Chris

Heya,

I have just upgraded to a Quad G5 :) (from a Dual 1.8 G5) but that's because i do mainly graphics work here. Although I do a bit web development
work with Eclipse and Lasso, for that alone, I would fork out that kinda money...

Also run my own Mac Server too, just in the process of upgrading that to 10.4 Tiger as we speak. But don't ask me anything to do with CLI stuff, that's why I am on the mac in the first place... hehe

Cheers
Chris

a Quad G5! Purrrrrrrr!

My next "main" machine will be a Mac, have been using one quite heavily recently for video editing and some heavy graphics editing and they just WORK! simply. the day I started using it I was cutting video in about 10 minutes in imovie. (now AVID). just so intuitive!

I've managed to speed up WinXP by some 30% by physically reverse hacking out all the visual glut and app logging and error reporting and prefetch and MSHTML engine (internet explorer, active desktop, "web view" folders) and other glut that slows it down. things just open instantly! windows was never designed to have that added. was kinda a bandaid over something already 10 years old (winNT)

Try that quicksilver.. Tyring to suss out how to get a "studentcard" without being a student. $55 a month 3.5Mb down, 128k up, 30GB cap unlimited national traffic... might be a $50 charge to change but you'll save that in two months. My ihug keeps dropping so I might switch today.
