Am really too old to be a geek, but maybe not.

Have used PCs since......wait for it.........1979!

Only really got into them since 1990s though and am consistently amazed at the technological advances we all are able to enjoy.

Build PCs, game, buy/sell and generally just indulge in the glut of techno wizardry my budget can stretch to.

I have read many posts over the years and have found a wealth of information here, at a technical level, that has helped me sort various computer issues which would otherwise have left me baffled.

Time to step up maybe?

Cheers

Oh, as my username suggests, actually a bike nut as well....

Welcome
Yes I'm amazed at the tech advances - I got bored with tech things for a decade or so but the recent advances in mobile/tablet/"portability of the internet" technology has rekindled my interest

Darn - that makes me feel old. Did my maths/comp sci university thesis on punchcards around that time. My first job was programming cpm (and later ccpm) machines.
Sigh - worked on cray-2's, as400's, primes, data generals, vms, icl perqs (and many many more that no longer exist).

Back when computers were real computers :-)

Still a geek and damn proud of it.

Ian

p.s. my daughter just saw this and didn't think they had computers back then.

Haha....
seems like I am not alone, which is awesome.

I remember that all our programming was done in Basic, our school had one computer and you had to be liked by the Math tutor to be able to use it.

One of mates had an old sinsclair ZX and we thought it was awesome...

I love how it is today and still know enough to keep some of the younger generation on their toes, they don't even know what DOS is...

Thanks for the warm welcome
