Thanks NZHerald banner advertising for the unnecessary temptation!!

The Dell Product Red XPS M1330 on the right is looking tempting, or do I wait for the new Vaio SZ79 to get here???

Thoughts anyone?

The PRODUCT (RED) is part of the campaign to donate funds for HIV research and other stuff. It comes with special Windows Vista content...

Thanks MF, just been reading quite a lot about it . . . . $50US from this machine is donated.

It's a lot cheaper (~$800) than the Vaio, 3 year covers everything warranty, 4GB vs 2GB, Ultimate vs Business, 128MB GFX vs 64MB which are all votes for the Dell.

It is a bit heavier and I hold Vaio in high regard for quality but Dell seem to be getting some great reviews these days and with all the other pro's above it's pretty much a one horse race!!!

I'd pick Dell on this one... as the only Sony that I'd go for (if I must) would be their overpriced... VGNTZ27GNN or VGCLM18G.

But I might get Apple MacBook or Imac before TZ or LM.

I tend to think along the same lines. I would really love to get my hands on a Vaio but they are considerably more expensive than a Dell machine with equivalent specs and having used a lot of Dells at work I have confidence in their product.

You should try ring Dell up and speak with a consultant.

They usually give you a better deal that what you see online, perhaps a free Bluetooth headset? I got free stuff too when I rang up. :)

Hey there...

I see you ordered the Dell Product Red. Here's something special for you then - I am expecting one Microsoft Product (RED) tshirt courtesy of our friends from Mcirosoft in Redmond - and because you are contributing to this cause I will forward that to you when it arrives here - just send me a PM with your address.

Have you looked at the Microsoft (PRODUCT) RED blog yet? I think there's a t-shirt in one of the pictures there.

I hadn't, but I have now, thanks.

There is plenty of rubbishing of the project online, people saying it is just Microsoft and Dell trying to tug on heart strings to sell product etc. At least they are contributing something, it isn't the reason I chose what I did but it's a warm fuzzy benefit. It doesn't take a genius to work out that of all the stuff sold worldwide linked to the project there is going to be a fair bit of cash doing good!

The (PRODUCT) RED project wasn't created by Microsoft and/or Dell - it's been around for some time now.

Whoever says that is not being true - because they are not looking at the thing since the beginning. Some people are never happy...

Ahh yes sorry, I meant they are rubbishing Dell / Microsoft's involvement with the project. Oops.

waiting . . . patiently waiting.

Can anyone who has brought from Dell recently tell me which courier company they use? Also, if you still have the link to the tracking website can you please see which status it moved to after "Loading for export" and how long there was between those stages?

Cheers
