Hi,
I have a mid 2014 Macbook pro 15" which is mostly in good nick, however recently it's started shutting down randomly mid-use.
I have yet to detect a pattern to the shutdowns, sometimes it won't happen for a day, and other times it'll happen 5 times within the same hour, under low load, high load, plugged in, on battery, it's totally random.
Typically the screen goes black first, while keeping the keyboard backlighting on, then the fans will rev up and and after 15-30 seconds from the screen going black, will it then completely shut itself off.
Has anyone had this before? I've reset the SMC and tried finding other various solutions online to no avail.
Would it be acceptable to try get Apple to look at it under the consumer guarantees act or would I be pushing it a bit given it's age - even though I paid over $2k for it a year ago.
Cheers,
Aidan
