As it says on the tin, I'm looking to see if anyone else owns a working W2008 Windows tablet. These were sold for quite cheap by Noel Leeming around 2018 as an in-house OEM tablet computer.

I recently acquired one second-hand, but like a clown, I accidentally reimaged the device without backing up the installed drivers. This broke the touchscreen functionality. Of course because it's a no-name homebrand device, there's no drivers available online or on microsoft's driver servers. I've tried to contact TWG directly to see if they still have contacts with the manufacturers so that I could possibly get the firmware off them, but I think it's pretty unlikely. Noel Leeming support said that the device had been removed from their product database, so they weren't much help either.

That's why I figured I should try asking here to see if anyone owns one of these tablets to see if they could help build me a DISM driver export so that I could reinstall the drivers on my device. In addition, this would allow me to port the driver over to Linux and add the firmware blob to the gsl-firmware project. I've been able to find firmware there which almost works perfectly (IRBIS TW48), but fail from slight misalignment on the edges. This makes it impossible to access the start menu

If anyone knows anything about how I could go about obtaining the drivers that would be amazing thanks!

I don't have it anymore, but if I recall correctly it was made by a company called Viglen, they were rebadged and sold all over.

Looks like they still have listings on amazon US too,  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Viglen-Connect-Windows-Tablet-Processor/dp/B01MSOW7DO.

It's not a link to drivers sorry, but hopefully the info helps.

Ooo, very promising!

I've noticed that this device has been sold under many, many names. I've been able to find a few which are very similar in model, but when testing the drivers, they've not worked. This is because whilst the chipset is all the same, they've been paired with a slightly different screen. One such example is Fusion5 FWIN232 Plus. Exact same chipset, same mobo, but slightly different chassis and screen assembly, so the driver doesn't line up :(

As an interesting update, I did go into Noel Leeming to see what they could find in their inventory system. They were able to find that the device was still logged in there, but they had never sold it at that branch so they couldn't glean any more information. However, they did inform me that the company usually keeps hardware on backstock for ~6 years, so there is a slight chance that my contact to TWG's supplier email might actually result in something.

I still believe my best bet will be finding one of the 3 other people in NZ who actually bought one of these tablets, and asking them very kindly for a driver dump. I have found a guy on a car forum who was using one for a dashboard computer, so there's hope that he still has the tablet and would be willing to help me out! Only time will tell though. As for the meanwhile, I'm going to attempt to use a driver dump for that Viglen tablet, and I'll see whether I get any luck with it!
