cbdkid: Still trying to figure out how to use all the utilities it comes with, the volume control is a bit weird, you can keep turning it non stop and I can't find anything to control the subwoofer yet. Not sure if Outlook 2007 does this but it keeps talking when new emails come in, duno how to turn it off could be vista ultimate.

edit: just noticed theres this intel turbo memory and intel matrix storage manager, never seen this before.

Outlook 2007 keeps talking? Hehe, what does it say?

You have X new messages.
You have mail.

The speaker system is so good on this too. I don't know how to describe sound stuff though :(.

That's neat how it can say how many messages you have. I use 2007 on XP and it doesn't "talk" to me like that. Must be a Vista feature.

I am sure you can turn that off - should be in the options somewhere.

Is the notebook running quietly? Does it get hot underneath?

Could be a vista thing but on my previous P100 which had vista it never said those things to me. Either Toshiba or Vista Ultimate I think or maybe I just didn't use some optional thing.
The notebook at the moment I can only hear the DVD-ROM drive going, but its burning the recovery discs.
Not sure if the notebook would be warm though if I was running games or something, but at the moment its installing updates, I'm using word and its burning recovery discs and I can hardly feel a thing. Just a little right of the touchpad its a bit warm or maybe its just my hand, really hard to distinguish lol...

I find it rather annoying that only two usb plugs are on the left side of the computer, used by my printer and my mouse. Theres 4 usb things on the right side but I use a mouse so sorta in the way. The recovery dvds is a bit annoying, taking a while to do takes 2 dvds. Oh an updating but thats with any computer ^^. Other than that nothing.

By the way whoever was asking about the wallpaper, I uploaded it onto imageshack.

Thanks for the feedback mate:)

Well, the updating part is a lot better than updating an XP right now.  I think the last time I reformatted my XP and updated it, the file size was well over 250MB, even with SP2.

I have been waiting about 4 months :P for a replacement. Been complaining to Toshiba and Harvey Norman that theres something wrong with the P100's installed with Vista, constant stuttering and they finally decided to replace my computer when I sent my lawyer sent them a letter about some laws or something consumer guarantee and fair trading I think.

Have you got a notebook bag for this?  If so, what type?  Laughing

Hmm, I still have the 17" targus notebook bag that I bought for my P100. Not sure if this notebook will even fit into it.

Would you take this notebook out and about (as in, out of the house) from time-to-time?  Or do you think it is too large for taking out?

Nah I don't think its too big to take out time-to-time, just not every day. In fact I'm going to take it out this Thursday or Friday to Uni.

I doubt I will be running it off it's batteries much. Really hate it when you have to slow it down to get better battery life.

"I tested the battery life with Vista’s power settings set to “Power Saver” with the display at 3/7 brightness and while surfing the Internet the entire time. The X205-S9349 held out for a rather amazing two hours and forty-two minutesbefore giving the ten percent warning. I think that for a machine that is running a powerful graphics card, 17” display, and two hard drives, this is a very impressive result.  I was not expecting more than two hours. Needless to say, I am more than pleased with the battery life."

Quite a good review of the American X200 counterpart at notebook review if you haven't seen it yet http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3856
