By the way, is firefox buggy or something at the moment? I find that if I leave it running in the background when playing games, I get drastically reduced fps. However even running two copies of WoW at the same time or doing other stuff doesn't make the computer slower, only firefox.
Ive downloaded the drivers off that site and as expicted I get a screen saying The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that ar compatiable with your current hardware. Pretty much saying NOT SUPPORTED so how did you install yours I look at the cards that its made for and the 8700m gt is not on it.

Theres a tutorial on the site, you have to download the modified inf file. Download the modified inf and then replace the one in the unzipped folder. That will make it work.
umm to confusing for me even though i know a lil about computers (hardware only) when it comes to software i ask next person is there a way you can upload your moded inf file so i can get it instead of tryig to figure it out. I read the what is a moded inf file forum but ?? I give up.

did you see that theres a new driver inf on that site version 165.01
Don't bother with 165.01, I had a lot of problems with it on my old Toshiba. If you look closely, its a beta driver from April 07. Btw sent you inf in email.

For such a high spec'd notebook, I would have expected better native resolution. I had a look at one of these notebooks today, and the only thing putting me off getting one, is the low resolution. I checked the graphics settings, and that was as far as it went.
I do notice that the European equivalent has 1680 x 1050 (or thereabouts), yet afaik, it uses the same screen and graphics card.
Would updating the drivers allow the use of a higher resolution? (excuse my ignorance).
I am a CNC Programmer (CAD/CAM) and generally work with higher resolution, so that is the one area of concern. I'd appreciate any feedback :)

I don't believe you can force the notebook to use 1680 x 1050 resolution even with updated drivers as I have found. The LCD's native resolution is 1440 x 900. However I have had another Toshiba notebook before that had a native resolution of 1680 x 1050. I believe that the screen is actually different in different models of their notebooks, some have a sticker saying WXGA+ and others have something else like WSXGA I think.
However I think if this notebook used the 1680 x 1050 resolution, any of the games would run significantly slower and as this is a gaming notebook, I don't think thats such a good idea unless they have a better graphics card for their variations of the X200 with the 1680 x 1050 models.

Yeah, I decided that this notebook wasn't for me. I ended up with the HP 8710W. It has all the specs I need as a mobile workstation, plus the higher res screen.
