How about a Lenovo T61?

I am using Thinkpads since 1999, started with T21, then T23, T41 and now T60.
My missus has a Vaio SZ, which I think a bit overpriced in its category.  Dell seems to give you better specs for same money.

With the cheapest MBP coming in at $3400 your budget would cover that in any case. What about a Macbook? Not a huge difference between the two (unless you're running graphic intensive software)

Never ask what sort of computer a guy drives. If he's a Mac user, he'll tell you. If not, why embarrass him?
