Have just had my motherboard fail on a Macbook pro (Purchased Dec 2013). It failed in Dec 2017 and needs a new logic board. Quoted over $1000 to repair and prob not worth doing so on such an old device. Wondering if I should ring up Apple and ask for a similar deal given the MBP is mainly used at home, doesnt really travel with us and it's simply failed.
I'm loathe to spend another $2k minimum on a replacement given we haven't intentionally damaged this device.
I'm not going to comment on the OP's expectations. But I feel a disputes tribunal hearing would be significantly influenced by the fact an Apple representative did not show up.

Mention the CGA, and that you don't think 4 years is a reasonable life for a MacBook Pro.
