nathan: Why do you think you want a 17” screen? (There are no 16”)

Don't want anything too small, that's all.

You mentioned mobility

Where?

Apologies for replying and trying to help in this damn annoying forum

You didn’t say “mobility” - I paraphrased that. You said “lightweight” which implies you care about the weight - as you’ll move it around

Would prefer an answer to my question on how this would compare https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NBKHNB3944677/HP-Probook-450-G5-Business-Laptop-156-1080p-FullHD

Please?

The HP Probook 450 G5 is a great machine and will do what you’ve described you need, apart from the 16” screen

Personally if I was you, I would go into a store and see one and get hands on - screen size, weight, keyboard style and layout etc

For me a 15” laptop is too big

The i7 CPU is probably overkill, if you can save money by dropping back to i5 I would, save money and better battery life
Also, if all your work is done thru a remoting app, and a local web browser basically any new laptop will work fine. Personally I never recommend someone buys less than 256Gb SSD storage and 8Gb RAM

The HP ProBook 450 is an excellent machine.  However, it can't use the UltraSlim Docking Station, so for that reason I would opt for the ProBook 650 which can.

HP Elitebook will always get my vote. They are bullet proof if not a little pricey.

Probooks are entry-level business devices and are generally heavier so if you want lightweight, that won't meet your requirements.

If working from mainly one location consider a small screen laptop with a large external monitor

Agree. Toshiba have a lovely 14" Device with a touch screen that has a 3 Year warranty for under 2K.

If those are your only two options I'd buy the HP. Because it's HP. I've never had a good Dell experience support or sales, other than Ultrasharps, though other peoples experience may differ.

There are so many options... I want a quick laptop 15.6" for about $1600-$1900

Happy to get recommendations

Pavillions are consumer grade (crap IMO). If you want a work laptop pick from the non consumer range.

It's for after hours additional work only.. used most nights though so may avoid it. Would it be quick though

For this price, my original idea of a Pro Book seems to be best
