I need a quick fast lightweight laptop with a 16" or bigger screen.

I connect to a business via some type of VPN login, I see my work desktop.

I don't stream video or anything like that, just use the VPN connection and almost everything is desktop app run .exe or JAVA based applications or chrome based websites.

As a starter... what's this like?

What do you need to know to help? I have a laptop now.. it works but it's just slow.

What laptop do you have now?

A simple upgrade to an SSD may solve the issues..

If you VPN in and use another computer basically all your using your laptop for is a screen, mouse and keyboard.

Any model number on it or brand?

But More RAM, bump to 8GB and it probably doesn't have an SSD so grab one of them (will need to know the laptop type to point to the best version)

So that's what's offered in my link

Should be a vast improvement then

the upgrades will cost maybe $300 vs $1700 and i doubt you would notice a difference with the CPU for what you are using it for

and the poster before mentioned upgrades to solve the "it works but it's just slow" issues.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

God forums can be annoying... I'm buying a new system. I didn't ask about upgrades... why is this now about upgrading a system?

Why do you think you want a 17” screen? (There are no 16”)

Yep forums are damn annoying, when people are trying to help you

Upgrade vs a new system will save you $1000+

Maybe define what you consider to be slow?
When is it slow? When your doing what?

It seems you do all your work thru a remoting software into your work.
Maybe it’s your remote computer that’s slow not your local laptop

The current system is heavy, cracked and got other unrelated issues (sticky keyboard)...

Hense asking and buying a new system.

Don't want anything too small, that's all.

You mentioned mobility
Personally I think 17” laptops are too big and heavy to really be mobile

I don’t even travel with my 15”, but use a 13.5” as my daily driver

Apologies for replying and trying to help in this damn annoying forum

You didn’t say “mobility” - I paraphrased that. You said “lightweight” which implies you care about the weight - as you’ll move it around
