Anyone care to share some links to the specific models they've purchased?  Would be really helpful to look at specific specs and read any other reviews that might be out there.

My kids been using the HP for past two years, and she’s got two more years to go before high school….

so far so good… I chose the HP due to better chassis build quality to handle the knocks and the classic carrying it around open using fingers and thumb…

remember, high school will bring different spec requirements…. Maybe google the prospective high school and look for their stationary list for this year, it should show somewhere what they want.  This will help you figure out the next two years….

side note, does anyone know if Apple Store ask for any ID in the education store?
keen on replacing the family laptop…and include the software bundle so the kids can mess around with editing video and audio…

Apple don't ask for ID/proof of being a student for the Education store

Something like this lenovo T580 will go real good:

These are very durable and can upgrade or replace ram, hard-drive,  battery etc.  These are super easy to get into and parts readily available.  I've gotten 2 similar off trademe for cheaper but they are quite popular these days.  My eldest just left his with stock windows but I installed chrome os flex for my youngests one.  Have gotten new original lenovo batteries for both now for between $65-70.
