ZollyMonsta: Y'know.  I could be tempted to sell my iPad and get a Microsoft device.  Makes sense kinda (and my iPad 3 is now far too slow and I don't use it too much since upgrading to a bigger phone).

Not a bad idea. I have a 128GB LTE iPad Air 2 in perfect condition, which i don't use nearly as much as my iPhone. It's a shame the prices haven't gone up on these as much as they have on the iPhones.

Will be getting the SP4 keyboard for my SP3. Have no reason to upgrade to the SP4 as the SP3 is overkill for the web browsing I do on it.

lxsw20: Not sure what you're trying to say Nathan? Do MS not see the Type Cover with Finger Print sensor making sense economically out of the US?

they can get them into NZ if there is enough demand, else they can be parallel imported etc

Both Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book natively support facial recognition with IR cameras for Windows Hello builtin

paulmilbank: Am I right in saying the Surfacebook has no ports in tablet mode? All the demo video's seem to show ports on the base only.
Looks great though, really impressed with this new Microsoft. They are releasing really solid products with great functionality.

the Surface Book in tablet mode has too thin a Z height to have ports

gzt: 8gb is the new standard ram for surface pro? Good move.

doesn't seem to be..

the microsoft store has the following Surface 4 with with 4GB

Intel Core M3 128GB 4GB  899USD

Intel Core i5 128GB 4GB Ram   999USD

Ah I see. Looks like 8gb is standard for the book only.

This is nice puts all the s4 options in one place inc 1tb:

chiefie: I'd expect the Surface Dock be at least usable with Surface Book as well - to make the accessory more usable in multiple devices.
[Correction: Looks like Surface Dock is usable with Surface Book, not connect at the keyboard dock and not at the display/main unit though]

And I'm really curious and wanting to know what nvidia dGPU is in the keyboard dock for Surface Book.

Surface Dock connects to the SurfaceConnect port on the Surface Book keyboard

I figure I might get around $300 for my iPad 3 32gb Wifi/Cellular one (if I'm lucky?).

very highly doubt it. Wait for the ifixit teardown.

But mate, its an enclosed unit

Yep very unlikely. They do everything possible to save space and weight. 780gms for this one! With 13.5" screen.

But having said that adding the keyboard doubles that weight but very unlikely the ram is in there. There is a 16gb model btw.

Is there a super light keyboard for this one or just the heavy one?

Edit: oops answering my own question there is a 4 typecover in the store.
