Thanks hugely everyone for the great suggestions..

I am not sure if I have stopped it, but I haven't heard it for a couple of days.. but then I never did know exactly what triggered it..

I have a feeling that the Factory Reset I did on the Monitor may have fixed the problem.. But just in case it does come back, does anyone know what this info in the Modem View Log means.

08-29-2021 00:33:31.003 - Modem type: Standard Modem over Bluetooth link
08-29-2021 00:33:31.003 - Modem inf path: mdmbtmdm.inf

Kind regards

You still have something trying to diual out. Have you made an inventory of a installed software, ran a complete malware scan and updated all your drivers, applications and OS?

Hi Memuneh,

Installed software inventory.. No..

Ran a complete malware scan.. YES

Updated all your drivers YES I think they are all up to date..

Applications and OS? YES I think is all up to date..

Re the dialling out.. I have tried checking the task manager when it happens but don't see anything unusual. But then i don't really know what I'm really looking for.

If you could give me some idea what to look for that would be good.

Cheers

Stephendnz:

... and I have to confess I had not noticed before given the proximity of both is.. That the sounds are actually coming form the speakers of a separate Compaq monitor which I have connected via a VGA cable ...

Stephendnz:

...

(Pull the power cable from this 'monitor' (or additional desktop/PC) and watch it likely vanish.)

It only happens when the monitor is attached - via vga cable - but the sound cable is not attached..

...

Mystery solved! Emphasis mine. If you have the money, replace the monitor.

To troubleshoot further, disconnect the VGA cable from the monitor & cold power on the monitor. Do you see any operating system loading? If yes, then you have an all-in-one device (AIO) as described previously.

If it's an AIO & you don't want to replace it, at least go into the BIOS of the AIO & disable all peripherals. You'll save enough electricity in the long run by not running devices unnecessarily.
