I rang up HN in Botany this afternoon.  The X200 is still not available.  However, all the new models are now in-stock.  No ETA for the X200.

To be honest, I would rather get it from Dick Smith or Noel Leeming.  Their policies are a lot more consumer-friendly.  For example, the change of mind policy that allows you to return anything within two or so weeks for a full refund.

I heard that DSE was horrible when it comes to repairing, i heard stories such as it takes 3 months to get a laptop back and so on...

When I spoke the sales person in Noel Leemings they will not keep it in stock because of the price tag so if you decide to buy you have to order it in (Specialty order only) im not to sure with Dick Smith when I spoke to the sales person there he pretty much told me the same thing in a way they have it listed in there system but not to sure when there gonna get it?
Im starting to wonder if im just wasting my time here man its taking a long time to get in.

Im not to sure on your quote here the people in DSE Powerhouse in Hamilton have been really good If i could i would buy my system through them but as stated above there not to sure when it will arrive. So i guess Ill have to say with Harvey Normans.

Well im not sure about powerhouse but all i have been hearing is bad. but thats just me, i rather go to HN as i have been through the system as per say.

Yep, with two toshiba laptops :( but we all know that hardware will fail and thats why customer support is here lol. The warranty went through pretty easy, mum got hers replaced because it couldn't get fixed and mine got a new HD because the old one had "a bad sectior found"

Harvey Norman aren't the best when it comes to customer service, but I think Dick Smith are worse.
About 2-3 years ago I bought a Platronics headset from them, took it home and it didn't work, no sound coming out from the speakers. I took it back the next day and they told me they would send it back to their repair centre. They couldn't give me a new set as it was against their store policy and it had to be seen by a technician or something. Took them a month to get back to me where they gave me a new set.

Well, this is why I would take it back to the manufacturer, if possible.

I buy Toshiba notebooks because if anything goes wrong, you take it back to Toshiba's repair centre, run by them and not by contractors.

HP etc, they do not have their own repair centre.  Instead, the contract it out and the staff at these places are very incompetent.  Most of them are either fresh graduates or students still studying the IT trade.

Now, if the Toshiba centre says the notebook is not worth fixing, they would advise DSE or HN and you will receive a credit note.

That could explain what i heard about DSE because the laptop is a HP.

My laptops out of warranty, Mum's still under the 12 month because of it being a replacement. its under the HN warranty now. And believe it or not that was the warranty both laptops went under when both needed fixing. The first one, the screen flashed at random times or be fine for a while then flash. Took it to HN, two weeks later they couldn't fix it and gave us a new one] Then i got my mums old one because she wanted the new one because it was "faster" because of the two processors. [yes, they gave us a A100 to replace a M40!] i went to reformat this one because something wasn't right, i didn't recall a 1GB lot of ram to be as slow as it was so i put the disk in and let it go, nearly done and BANG bad sector found.

Took it in, got it sent out, came back with a replacement HD [same size :(] with windows installed back and they even updated windows for me.

Now thats service!

[First one, was mine, mum got the new one :( second is the one im on now]

OK if you want to buy a laptop get sumthing else except a HP or Compaq (to many faults with hardware) this is why im going for a Toshiba my ex has a Toshiba Sattelite (in germany) and has no problems with it, With my time ive been In computers I always heard HP or Compaq always play up due to the CHEEP HARDWARE they use Anyway when it come to retail places it all depends on the service you get some places are good and some are bad REALLY BAD but most of the people ive delt with are allways ready to help but mind you the people in Harvey Normans Hamilton?? Im starting to wonder Ive only heard good things about this place but my personal opinion, you walk in and you look like your wanting someone and thay stare at you like your a stupid moron and perfer to talk to there pers in the work force. My request is what do you think i should do for waithing for so long?? they have already givin me a free bag but what else?? Its been a week + since they said it would be here.

Very Frustrated with Harvey Normans Hamilton. The only problem is that this system is very expensive no one wants to stock it!!
