Ok so how does youshop work, I know they send to a US address which gets forwarded on, but you dont avoid customs etc?

This is what I want, the rx4070 model. Quick currency conversion and customs it comes to about the same as the rx4060 model here.

Dang the ProArt Studio is nice though. This is what MS had in mind with the original Studio Book I reckon. The touch wheel has so many uses.

Youshop seems to have a $2k NZD limit on items from the USA, so that might be out.

I don't have any exp with other foward freighting options, someone else may be able to chime in.

are notebooks on the banned list for direct consumer import? The proart studio is about $1k cheaper if  imported. Can only try, if not, another plan perhaps.

The last laptop I bought was direct from Amazon US, about two years ago. There are plenty on there which can be shipped to NZ. You'll obviously have to pay customs etc and the freight may be expensive because lithium. So you'll need to do your sums on whether the eventual saving is worth more than CGA

That is good to know. Yes, weighing up the CGa is the key bit huh. Lets say there was a fault, in theory is there still a way to claim warranty? Is it just a case of shipping expenses.

Yes that Proart studio you linked isnt a bad deal :-).

The one I want though is the i9-13980hx 24core (pulls double the apple m2 PRO multi core stats) with the GTX4060, 32GB single slot, that gorgeous 3.2k 600nits HDR OLED. I think this will last me a few years.

I was quite surprised about the Design Dial built into the keyboard, I thought it was a gimick at first, but it has its own programmable mapping, so whether its Lightroom, Premierre Pro, DevOps tools, just about anything, it is functional.

The touch OLED is plenty sensitive enough (pressure points) for design with the asus (works with ohers) Pen. Oddly some boxes seem to come with the pen and ohers dont. Perhaps the cheaper versions, not sure.

So that model is $1800US. Its $5400 in NZ. But right now you can get the RTX4070 model for $5k NZ, which is tempting. But these prices do make me start to think desktop. I will see if I can import one cheaply first. But a desktop for $3k plus the vivobook 14 OLED for $1500 would be cheaper and more functional perhaps. Possibly not as powerful though. The i9 desktop and RTX4070 are probably $2k ish.
