Hello All,
I purchased my Toshiba Satellite M100 laptop about three months ago and have used it for at least six hours every day since (both on battery and AC). When it was brand new, the Li-ion battery lasted at least four hours from a full charge with the screen brightness at half, word processing, and listening to iTunes. Now, after less than two hours usage in similar conditions from a full battery charge, it will read about 48% of the battery life left, then crash to 5% battery remaining in under a minute. I unintentionally let the battery drain fully twice (not a good thing for Li-ion, I know). I know that Li-ion batteries lose lifespan at up to 20% per year in this climate, but this battery is so young, and has already lost half! I looked up Toshiba recalls, and my battery is not one of them. Anyone know why it crashes to 5% so fast now? And is there a way I can regain the battery life, or did the full discharges toast it? If it is irreversibly damaged, any advice on where I could get a new one for cheap? I need the battery to last longer than two hours for my work. Thanks much!
~Nolan

Not a solution, but for reference, the battery on my Toshiba M200 lasts about two hours now, and the laptop is two years old.

Contact the store where you bought this laptop and ask if this is covered by warranty or if they can help you.
