Good Morning,

I have recently purchased a laptop for a young friend to assist her with her schoolwork; she lives in a isolated area without internet access.
She plans to use the internet at the local public library and download any data she requires to her laptop via a usb stick.

I am concerned that she may transport viruses along with her data.

I thought I might load antivirus software on her USB stick; I am then a little confused as to the process she should then follow

1. Which antivirus software can run from a usb stick
2. The antivirus software needs to update the virus definitions; should she do this before or after downloading her data from the internet
3.  Should the antivirus software be run against the usb stick or her laptop or both

I would appreciate any thoughts as to how I might keep her laptop safe
