hello,
When i try to turn on my laptop i get a black screen, i dont see the windows logo or anything its just black as if it wasn't turned on, i don't see the BIOS screen and the Hard Drive light does not light up, cant even get into safe mode.

I think its a problem with the hard drive but i could be wrong im no expert, if it is the hard drive how would i go about replacing it have had no experience with laptops.

Using Emachines E630 win 7 home prem 64bit.
Before this happened i closed the laptop (not turned it off) for a hour or two when i opened it the blue light next to the power button came on but the screen was black, i tryed opening and closing it which didn't work so i turned it off.

Press the power button down on your Laptop for 10 seconds, if stuck in Standby this will force it to turn off. Then press the button again to attempt to turn it on.

You could also try removing the battery and plug it in using the power adapter, that also works as well.

Possibly the power circuit is faulty or battery dead because of a faulty power-adapter.

It won't be the hard-drive as if that were the case it would just say "No Disk" or "Error Loading Operating System". However at the back of the laptop you see scews, remove them, take out of the HDD and attempt to start the laptop with the drive removed if you wanted to try.

It just does the same thing. also tried it with just the battery and still the same thing.
I charged the battery a few months ago took it out and left it in a draw as i always have the power cord plugged in.

Either the power adapter is faulty or the power circuit/jack is faulty. I recommend you take this into your local computer store to test.

Does the fan run when you turn it on?
