Looking at getting a laptop to replace the other halfs 5 year old one. She only uses for net and watching streamed video, youtube or avi/mpeg4 files on realplayer etc. Also would watch these on TV while running on laptop.

Do you really need a dedicated graphics card for this? Or is the new ivybridge chips with Intel HD graphics 4000 good enough?

Other suggestion I had was as she doesn't really use it anywhere other than home get a tower, box and use wireless or something like WDTV to send to TV.

The ones with integrated graphics are fine.

Heck i used to watch movies on my intel centrino laptop :) .
