Hi Guys,

I have a laptop that, when connected to the office wireless needs to sync two folders.

Is this the sort of thing best done with Sync toy?

I want it to be seamless, ie no intervention required.

You can have Synctoy perform this on a schedule but it's not that smart (as in "sync if things change only and if I am connected").

You can use Cubby for this kind of task. It will sync between two or more PCs, with cloud or no cloud involved. It will sync over the LAN so it won't use your broadband allowance if both PCs are inside the office.

sounds like a dropbox-ish feature (dropbox also has LAN sync)

They already have dropbox. But this solution would want to be independant of that.

Its a set of folders on a defacto server, with a laptop that only wants to work on LAN, and the files are largish.

Tell me more about dropbox LAN?

Go to your Dropbox preferences and there is an option to Enable "LAN Sync". Handy for syncing large files over computers on the same local network

I use Gbridge. Doesn't use the cloud so saves time and bandwidth. (I believe Cubby charges for this feature.) Also allows you to sync multiple (any) folders. Requires a Google account (uses GTalk) but is not a Google product.
