several different programs including sisoft sandra gave me this info.  just wondering if anyone knows why my pentium 4 2.5 GHz runs at 1.5 Ghz. If they are meant to then fine but if not then I would like to fix it !  . Hyper threading is enabled .  Thanks

You have to check the BIOS configuration. It sounds as it's in Manual configuraition instead of Automatic. That's assuming the motherboard is fully compatible with this processor.

Do some processors run slower if operating on battery power? It's just a guess.

well done lads it was both of those issues . It was running on some sort of power save but after changing still only went up to 2.0
so did haeps of research and found a motherboard info site and ended up with a new driver for the chipset which fixed that problem and a few others. cheers
