Anyone have one of these?
APPLE MacBook Pro 13" 2.5GHz

DSE has discounts on apple at present and I am thinking of giving apple a go

The laptop would be general work nothing heavy and travel use

comments thoughts appreciated

what do you need to with it?

what operating system do you want to run

if battery life (+40%) is important you may want to get a 4th Gen Intel Haswell based CPU instead of this one that uses 3rd gen

I agree that the MacBook Pro is due for a refresh and come out with the haswell which will mean increased battery life. But if you want the current one here is another cheaper pice for you.

DSE noted that their laptop was loaded with Lion and not Mountain Lion... Bare that in mind.

Yes the MacBook Air series has got a refresh not the pros. But they can't be far off.

Maybe thats why the prices are on the move down if they are bout to release a new range

Its just I have read some favourable reports on the apple pros for a midrange machine

There is an iOS app called Mac Tracker which you can use to confirm hardware versions of Apple products.

Not sure how reliable other sources are?

Hard to comment on that one, but I am a PC guy, and went to a Mac, in particular an Apple MacBook Pro with 13" Retina 2.6GHz (also keeping my PC). I got this one almost 2 months ago, and it is freaking awesome. The build quality, feel, speed, screen, ease of use is great. Does boot camp Windows 7 and Windows 8 no worries if you want to run a PC.
I have gone through a lot of PC laptops, not till you get an Apple laptop, you realise how well they are constructed, there is little that you can find wrong with it.
If you can stretch to this one, you will not be disappointed.

Just to further confuse you: on sale in the apple refurbished store is a similar spec 13" macbook pro with retina display. For bonus geek points, if nothing else
