Think I need a new laptop HD, i understand I need a 2.5" one but I need to check if its SATA or IDE.

How do I check if need be?

Start by checking the laptop specifications.

Chucked out box etc etc, cant find them on net.

Hd itself just says replace with compaq spare

Check under the laptop it should have the model information there and from that you use Google.

Also, check with Device Manager - right-click My computer, Properties...
