Hi. My Asus laptop died - fortunately it was under warranty and was fixed. Turned out the hard drive had bad segments or something. Asus tech said they were unable to recover the data on the disk. But they did give me the disk to try and recover it elsewhere.

Can anyone recommend somewhere in Auckland to take the hard drive and see if the data can be recovered?

Your backup is where?

I'm Sorry but the more times people get the message that things can fail and it will take their data with it the better.

Depends what it's worth to you... Computer Forensics in the cbd would be your best bet, but it will probably be upwards of $800.

Can't say I've ever used them but might be worth getting quotes from them. Be prepared to pay a bit though...
