Hi there.

As it is Christmas time I have thought about buying myself a new toy, a tablet or a "transformer"(half tablet half laptop). I currently have a laptop and its going pretty good, nothing hugely negative to say.

One big negative for me about tablets is the lack of storage, however that is understandable due to the size of it. Another is the screen size, seems like 10" is the biggest.

However I was thinking about packing in my laptop and buying a tablet. I was wondering has anybody successfully "moved" from a laptop/desktop to a tablet? Is it a good move, bad move? Positives about having a laptop over a tablet would be screen size, more storage, louder speakers (im guessing?).

I guess we all have different needs/wants so opinions will vary, but im looking for peoples opinions.

Thanks :)

Not an experrt but would think it depends what you are going to do with it, storage is one issue but so is typing, unless you have an external keyboard but then you may as well have laptop.

One good thing is not having to worry about overheating which I've found out the hard way.

A friend bought a Lenovo carbon x1 with a touch and its very impressive, I like being able to use the touch screen but also the keyboard so best of both worlds really

I'm getting an Asus T100 Transformer as the main PC for a teenager. I see us getting a second monitor for it for some of the time it's used at home, with wireless / bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Bluetooth speakers are easy to link if need beefier sound but still with convenience. The processor will be fine for most usage, and with full windows 8.1. If you need more speed or storage you can pay a lot more for a similar haswell model- the surface pro 2 is fabulous, or say the Asus T300, there are more and more of this forum factor being developed.

Surface Pro 2. Latest i5 Haswell CPU, Digitizer + Pen support.

64GB/128GB SSD comes with 4GB RAM
256GB/512GB SSD comes with 8GB RAM

Has mini display port and docking station support (releasing sometime in January). It's Display port 1.2 so you can daisy chain with another display port capable monitor that also has display port out which can connect to another display port monitor. You can also use a USB 3.0 based docking station.
