Hi, I had a go at replacing a faulty(?) hard drive and the new one isn't recognised, I have followed all the threads I can find on the topic, tried the old one back in as at least with that one I could get to a screen with a bird and a leaf on it before it would freeze...
Now it's time to take it to an expert, who will hopefully be able to get the much bigger and faster HDD working in my laptop.
Any recommendations?

Some Laptop BIOS's do not support drive above 80, 120, 320 GB. Try updating the system BIOS with the old drive in place then retry the new drive.

Yeah that occurred to me too about the location, then I saw the posts. I'm in Auckland.
Not going into details online, too much to type, would rather just hand it over to someone. I have now located someone who is going to show me how to set up the new hard drive with Windows, drivers etc, so hopefully will get it sorted over the weekend.
