Hi wonder if you can help with the above - my daughter has the acer travelmate laptop but when it is turned on it powers itself off after a few seconds even though the battery is fully charged. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Angela

If this only happens when the laptop is using battery power, then your battery is faulty (or just worn out).

If it is under warranty, then request a warranty service.

If it is out of warranty, then buy a new battery.

This is very common with laptops.

Thank you - It happens all the time whether plugged in to the charger or using without charger.  Will have to buy a new battery then - thanks for your help.

Sorry forgot to say that the screen is very dim and can not be adjusted by usual means I can only just see the acer and windows logos and the system goes straight to "preparing to shut down"

In that case, problem is not your battery, you have another issue. If your laptop is quite new (less than 2 years) it would probably be worth puttting it in to be fixed. If its older, its perhaps not worth fixing, depending on the issue.

Based on you saying it happens with the charger plugged in too, then I believe its not your battery, and you should not go and buy a new battery.
